Realm Series: Character Interviews – Delta Dune

Hey! I hope you had a great Christmas! And the New Year is upon us. Icarus was released a few days ago and it has been a great success thanks to you!

So today, I bring you a character interview of Delta Dune. She has been a favorite of many of the readers. The pilot of the Astra, travels from station to station, taking passenger and cargos. Emmeline’s best friend and Adrian crush, she is one of a kind. today Delta Dune is due for her interview by the mysterious interviewer. No one knows his real intention, but no one wants to go against the Imperial Command. Remember – these interviews are just for fun. They give a glimpse into the plot but do not spoil it! Have fun!

Talking with Delta Dune, Astra’s pilot.

It was hard for her to understand why she had been invited here. Astra was in the dock, waiting for Delta to fly it to its next destination. But everyone had to listen to Imperial command. She wanted to keep her license and her ship. May be this was a opportunity because she had a feeling the war might affect business. She strolled into the dark room and put her hands on her waist. The light blinked on. She took a seat and crossed her legs. A whoosh echoed and the interviewer appeared. She hadn’t realise it was a projection. So where was he located.

“Ah thanks for coming,” he said.

“Like it was a choice. I didn’t realize I would be speaking to a computer otherwise I wouldn’t have come,” she said acidly.

“I am a projection but of a real person.”

She crocked her eyebrows clearly unimpressed.

“How is yr mother?”

Delta wanted to laugh. His stuck up asshole didn’t care about her family. Her mother was a supervisor of a mine on Mars. She worked day and night, not for the money but for the passion. If Commander Anastasia Waters or Adrian would have asked about her mothers health, she would have know it was a genuine question. They cared for her. Emmeline always told her mom should quiet because long-term mining could impact her health. But her mother wanted to be there. The red rocks of Mars had become a part of her. “She is well. How is yrs?”

“She is good.”

“Where is she?” asked Delta.

“Ah I am not alooed to share personal information,” replied the interviewer.

“But you’re allowed to ask?” Delta said.

The man shifted in his seat. His mouth twisted. “So how is flying from station to station going?”

“It’s fine.”

The interviewer checked his notes, “Your customers seem very happy.”

“I am very good at my job.”

“And Titan is your main source of employment. You recently made an emergency drop. It was a drill to a mining colony.”

“It’s was a job and I did it,” she said settling back in her chair.

“And your friends with Emmeline Aubury.”

“I am friends with many people.”

“Yes. But you are close to her. And Lieutenant Adrian Olson,” he said eying her.

She didn’t flinch. Hiding emotions was her game. “Yes we are friends.”

“What do you think about Emmeline theory of the mythical device?”

Delta smirked. Now she knew why she was here. “She is day dreamer. A story teller. But she is a cadet of astrophysics, of course she is going to have theories. Isn’t that what all scientist do?””

“But this is not science.”

“Look I am not an expert, but science can’t explain everything.”

“So you believe her.”

“It’s doesn’t matter what I believe,” said Delta.

“We are…”

“We?” Delta asked interrupting him.

The interviewer cleared his throat, “I meant I was curious to know. Has she shared any of her theories with you.?”

Delta knew everything. But she wasn’t going to tell this moron. “No. I think unless she is sure about something she doesn’t tell me. But most of the time her head is in the clouds.”

“What do you think about the Orias?” asked the interviewer changing the subject.

Delta huffed. “Surely the Imperial Command is not interested in my view of the situation.”

“But you are not ordinary. You are contacted frequently by everyone on Titan. Including Anastasia Waters”

“For jobs,”

“Yes. They trust you,” said the interviewer.

She nodded. “That was true. Well the Orias are interesting but they should have stayed in their realm.”

“What if they are explorers?” asked the interviewer.

“We are explorers and we do not intentionally ignore communications. Nor do we breached the perimeter of an unknown world.”

“I see,” said the interviewer looking uncertain.

“It’s just not me. Many people think we should strengthen our forces. A war might be inevitable.”

He nodded. “We will try and prevent it.”

Now she was curious. “How?”

“What we do best – diplomacy.”

She leaned forward. she didn’t care about this moron sitting on some maroon island on Earth or hidden in an office on Mars. Titan was in the line of fire. Adrian, Argon Anastasia and most of all Emmeline might get hurt. Hell they might be killed if these morons failed. “What if diplomacy doesn’t work?”

“It will work,” said the man confidently.

She peered into his eyes and his concern filled his features. “You know what they say – taking nothing for granted, not even your own life.”

End of interview. Thanks for reading! Hope you enjoyed it.

Character Interviews: Realm Series: Lt Evan Weeds

Hey there, you know I have been working all this year to get the third book of the Realm. series out (Icarus). I thought why not make it a bit more spicer! So I will be posting a series of blogs where a anonymous interviewer will be interviewing a few characters of the book. Mostly these will be characters that you do not know much about and are not described in details in the books. These interviews do give a glimpse of the plot but do not give out any spoilers! So enjoy! Remember each post is a short character interview. This one is mostly based on what happens in the first few chapters of Fall of Titan. Do not forget to let me know your thoughts!

Talking with Lieutenant Evan Weeds.

The light fell on the platform and two seats appeared. Lieutenant Evan Weeds sat on a chair, swinging it side by side. On the other chair was a man no older than him. The piercing blue eyes and the plastered smile on his face had begun to annoy him. But he had to stay. He cared less about the Imperial Command’s thoughts, but Commander Anastesia Waters wanted him here and he didn’t want a black mark on his career. And who knows, it could be fun, he thought.

“Thank you for seeing me,” said the interviewer.

“That’s fine.”

“Let’s get on with it, shall we? What is your post on Titan?”

“Lieutenant Evan Weeds, operations officer.”

“So, you work on the bridge of Titan?”

“Yep.”

“What do you think of Titan?”

“Its the finest and the most powerful space station in the system.”

“And how long have you served on Titan?”

“Almost five years.”

“Now, tell us about yourself.”

“I am the only child, my mother passed away when I was one and my father worked as a mechanic on a freighter. Travel was common, I didn’t have a place to call home until fifteen. I have lived on every station, you name it.”

“That is interesting. And that way you must have made many friends…”

Evan titled his head. “Yeah, too many.”

“That’s fantastic.”

“No, it isn’t. They end up fighting with me.”

“Why?”

“I seem to offend them.”

“How come?”

“I don’t know its their problem not mine.”

“But…”

“Hey. This is getting personal. I thought this was about Titan.”

“So, you are saying you are not a team player?”

“Of course, I am, but the team members should also play with me!”

The interviewer appeared stunned for a moment. “I don’t think you understood my question.”

“Doesn’t matter. Do you have anything else to ask me?” Evan said, a bit annoyed.

The interviewer cleared his throat. “What did you think about the appearance of the mysterious signals?”

Evan remembered that day perfectly. He was minding his own business when Titan’s signature detected something beyond their borders (the perimeter.) It was a signal. They tracked it and it turned out it was an unidentified ship. “It was the highlight of my day. But not the strange Orias ship. That was freaky”

“Do you think The Orias are hostile?” asked the Interviewer

“Hard to say. We tried to talk to them, but they didn’t reply. I think that is rude. But maybe they were unmanned ships.”

“But they scanned the perimeter. That is the surveillance system that guards our borders,” said the interviewer.

“Yeah. That was upsetting,” said Evan not knowing where this was going and what should he do about it. He was just an operations officer and he believed in going with the flow.

The interviewer nodded. “What do you think we should do?”

“Track the Orias ship.”

“The Imperial Command thinks that could be dangerous.”

“That is correct. But aren’t we explorers?”

“So, you think we should attack the Orias?”

“No! I didn’t say. Just go and say hello and find out what they are doing in our space.”

The interviewer shrugged his shoulders.

Evan eyed him. “Is that all?” he asked. He didn’t see the point of this interview. In his view nothing significant had been covered. He looked into the eyes of the man in front of him and knew that he wanted something.

Do you think Anastasia Waters can handle what is coming?

Evan felt is blood boil. “She is the commander, isn’t she?”

“But things change.”

“Change is inevitable,” Evan said coldly, “But not trusting one of your most experienced commanders is stupid.”

The interviewer raised his eyebrows. “You trust her.”

“Why shouldn’t I,”

“Change is inevitable… and that might result in change in command. Would you trust your new commanding officer.”

“Trust is earned, not given,” he said Evan keeping his eyes locked at him.

The Interviewer cleared his throat. Evan got on his feet. “I believe we are done.” with that he turned and left.

The room turned dark.

End of interview. Thanks for reading! Hope you enjoyed it.

REALM III: ICARUS: Cover Reveal

Hey!

Hope you guys are having a good day. I have been working towards getting my book out. The before and after covers of ICARUS and I always look for covers which are relative to the book or somehow presents an aspect of the story. The Realm series is based in the 24th century where the solar system is invaded by a ruthless aliens called Orias. Titan, one of the military station which also governs the border of the system called the Perimeter. The story revolves around the group of characters who are trying to defend their realm and a girl Emmeline who is looking for a mystical device clues of which have been left by her ancestor.

ICARUS is the third part (but not the last part), of the series. The book is almost ready to go, but the first thing is to get the cover right. As usually I had to search high and low to get a good one. and I am lucky to have some good feedback from friends and family. Huh! I am sure sometimes they just might get annoyed of all my questions and trying t get it as good as possible! And here is it! The before and covers!

So what’s in this book?

Here is a little sneak peak!

Ancient doors not only reveal strange new worlds, but also awaken primeval evil.

Emmeline Augury jumps into the portal narrowly escaping from the clutches of the Imperial Command and the Orias. But the portal opens into the 21st Century. Gripped by fear that she could change the timeline, she frantically locates the second piece only to discover it has been taken by one of the most powerful men in New York. Running out of options, she forges a plan which, if successful, will protect the timeline. But if she fails, all hell will break loose.

In the 24th century, Titan’s and Prometheus’s jump has thrown them in the path of an inferno, to a system governed by a strange and powerful Sphere. Narrowly escaping that fate, Commander Anastasia Waters figures out that the Sphere might be at the heart of the mystery of the phantom asteroids. It holds many secrets including the jump point closest to Earth. But it is home to primeval evil and boarding the Sphere might cost her more than she bargained for.

While the crews of Titan and Prometheus try to find a jump point closer to home, Emmeline secures the artifact. But catastrophe strikes when the Orias queen unleashes her wrath, shaking Emmeline to her core and burning everything in its wake.

Trying to reach for the impossible, are like Icarus. They might fly, but their wings might just melt.

Help Me Name My Character

Hey all,

After publishing my recent thriller – Shadow Fraction, I am back on track to work on my science fiction fantasy – Icarus. It is the third book in the Realm series and its first part (Fall of Titan) has been received a literary book award (thanks to you guys!).

I am having trouble deciding a name for one of my characters. Maybe you guys can help me!

A little description – He is a teenager who is curious about how the world works. He captures ants to study them and carries out weird experiments to full fill his curiosity. Like many teenagers, he loves games, steals money from his father, and hates school and gets thrown out classes far too many times. He hardly has any friends (except the creatures/animals he adores) and a twin sister he always fights with.

I have come up with a few names and I am unable to choose one. So, help me choose the name of this character by clicking here.

The one that gets most of the votes from everyone wins and the voting closes on the 31 of Aug 2022.

Hello all,

Oh wow! The weekend is almost upon us! I am bringing you some great authors this month and the next in line is Kelly Miller. What can I say? This regency romance author has made a me a fan of romance! I still do not believe it but I have read all her books which are fantastic. This award winning author brings together great characters from classics like pride and prejudice and presents them with a new twist.

Okay enough from me. Check out what Kelly has to say about one of her books.

A bit about the book!

Could Fitzwilliam Darcy harbour a shocking, sinister secret?  In this romantic mystery, the beloved couple from Jane Austen’s “Pride & Prejudice” cross paths with a ruthless killer. When faced with dire warnings against Mr. Darcy, will Elizabeth heed them or follow the dictates of her heart?

Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet count themselves among the many guests of the Kendall family, whose estate lies amidst the picturesque hills, gorges, and rocky slopes of the Peak District in Derbyshire. Elizabeth’s cousin Rose Kendall believes her dashing brother-in-law, Captain James Kendall, is Elizabeth’s ideal match. Rose’s husband, Nicholas, hopes his good friend Darcy—a rich, proud, and taciturn gentleman with a spotless reputation—will fancy one of the other eligible lady guests. News of a brutal killing at a neighbouring estate sends a wave of shock through the genial group of friends and family. When one of the Kendalls’ guests is attacked, all of the gentlemen become suspects, but the former Bow Street runner tasked with investigating the crime finds the evidence against Mr. Darcy particularly compelling.

I had almost given up

Hey folks. I hope the sun is shining wherever you are and you and your family are doing well!

So, a little story – when I began publishing my book (like seriously) I thought I could get around four books out for my readers to enjoy. Turns out the first year (2019-2020), I did. Mainly because the books were already written and all I had to do was polish them and put them out there and make sure people find them. But things really started looking challenging in the second year – that was 2020-2021. During this year I had two books out (Shadow Pandemic and Poseidon) which were written within 8 months from the first draft. During this year, I felt the weight of the work and the stress of getting the books up to mark (I do work full time). Also next month I am doing a free promotions for creatives.

Regardless of how prolific I am, my mind and my body began to tell me that this was too much and so did my friends. The year 2021 was hard, and I did not want to miss the preorders that I had set up and my own expectations. So when 2021 finished, I did what I always do, listen to my intuition which told me – do not put pressure on your creativity. So this year I decided not to put anything on preorder so that I could have a breather and the second thing I told myself that if I decided to write two books or three – and I only publish one – It won’t be the end of the world because I would be happy, and it would be up to the mark (in my standards). I would accept it and be happy with it.

When 2022 began I was excited and as I had planned, I began working on Shadow Fraction (the sequel to Shadow Pandemic). But this one was a tough one – mainly because I made a major change in the plot in January which resulted in several unplanned changes in the the book. Despite my best efforts, I felt that I was behind because the book was not coming together – there were plot holes and several things needed improvement. It had started getting to my nerves. In March 2022, I had decided to put this book back in the drawer if it did not come together like I wanted. Just one more month – I told myself and then if it didn’t work, I would go back to writing (Realm 3: Icarus). Mainly because Icarus is a long series, one book per year is my goal for this series and it is in demand.

By the end of March, I still did not see a light at the end of the tunnel and when draft 7 was done I decided that it was time to share this book with my editor and get her to have a look at it. Just clean it up a bit but kept in my mind that – this one may not come out this year and it was okay. It made me sad, but still I was okay with that.

The manuscript was returned to me after three weeks with so many changes and a comments that made me wanna puke. (Nothing against my lovely editor – she is just doing her job). This was it.

Grudgingly I went through the comments and did all the work that was needed (again telling myself – end of April and that is it. I am going to leave it.). It took me two weeks to work on the manuscript. However, before making my next decision, I did an audio check. (I listen to my books because it gives me a better idea of how it sounds). I was stunned. It sounded like – it was ready to go. After my first editor had gone through the book and I had updated it, I saw the difference. Before this I had been working on it for a long time, every day and I could not see the progress I was making. But my audio edit surprised me! I could not believe it! I was ready to give up on it. But within minutes I decided that this book would be out this year!

Moral of the story – It’s always good to keep a open mind. I am glad I did. I was ready to give up on the book (not forever) but for a while at least. To get my energy back. I decide not to beat myself for not finishing it – and decided it was not a failure but a delay. I had kept my expectations realistic, understanding the hours I could put in and gave myself the time, and flexibility. My efforts did bring out the best (I think) in the book which should be really entertaining for my readers. I still have a bit to do – like final edits, get the book cover ready and make a publishing plan. But now with the manuscript ready it seems doable.

I hope this encourages you to never give up and realize the amount of time and energy you can put into your project. Feel free to share your experiences!

Have a lovely day!
